Strategic Review

  • Organisation: Charity
  • Sectors: Not-for-Profit

Liz, the CEO of a 100+ employee charity, engaged us to review it’s portfolio of trading activities and advise on changes to improve performance.

The organisation has gone through a period of corporate expansion, resulting in a mix of business units that lacked coherence. In addition, some areas has been underperforming for several years; something that Liz felt needed a fresh perspective to address.

After working with Liz to map out the business model, it became clear that the priority challenge was a significant legacy asset used for commercial income generation. What should have been a net contributor was, in fact, an ongoing financial burden which also sat apart from the rest of the organisation.

Working with the management team, we facilitated a strategic review which included workshops to re-imagine new ways in which the operations could generate new income streams and value to the core organisation.

Outcomes from these workshops enabled Liz to put in place a new operating model and customer focus, leading to a shift in the business model that was more aligned with the organisation’s values and mission.
