A charity supporting local communities and voluntary groups experienced significant changes: a newly appointed Chair, a refreshed board composition, and rapid organisational growth due to new projects and services.

Recognising the need to review the Board’s role and assurance framework, the new Chair engaged Maine Associates to facilitate an away day aimed at aligning the Board and senior leadership team on performance, impact, and risk.

Our Approach:
  • Consultative Design: Collaborated closely with the Chair to design a tailored away day agenda addressing specific organisational needs.
  • Facilitated Sessions: Conducted initial sessions exclusively with the Board to build consensus on key topics, followed by joint sessions with the Chief Executive and Senior Leadership Team to agree on a future roadmap.
The Result:

Post-session, the Chair reported increased confidence among Board members regarding their roles and a stronger alignment with the leadership team on critical areas. This facilitated a unified approach to navigating the charity’s growth and strategic objectives.
